May 18th Master Class Offerings
$25 per workshop
2pm-8pm at The Kings Christian School

Musical Theater Performance Adjudications - Susan Eley (with guest adjudicators)
  • Prepare your favorite musical theater song to sing for professional actors and directors to review and give feedback on.
Tap Master Class - Bianca Moffa (middle to high school recommended)
  • Learn foundational tap skills and be able to work collaboratively to create a short combo while working towards creating different rhythmic patterns.
Dramatic Storytelling and Acting - Jon Schimpf (high school recommended)
  • Develop skills in telling a serious/tragic/dramatic story without resorting to means of making their audience laugh through experimenting with the practice of acting "uncomfortably" or outside the box. Additional objectives would be engaging with dramatic/romantic/tragic texts and developing methods of quickly entering/exiting the character, as well as creating boundaries between the actor and the character that they are portraying and how to maintain emotional stability while depicting heavy emotions.
Finding Your Authentic Voice - Queade Norah (middle to high school recommended)
  • Explore how to present their vocal strengths through honest storytelling. To help students understand how to sing with their true voice, we will discuss tools that will aid in showing up as present, authentic, and honest as possible. The tools that I would give students in the class include how to set Intentional Performance Goals, how to create a Breath Management and Movement routine, how to read Lyrics as Text, and how to make space for Expressing the Words that matter through melodies.
Improvisational Acting (Improv) - Jon Schimpf
  • Improv is important both on and off the stage. Through games and exercises, students will build “improv muscles," build confidence and creativity specifically as it relates to improv and comedy, and learn a healthy mindset for the necessity of making mistakes when learning and how to bounce back and adapt as it relates to performing art.
